Blogging is a passion, and there are lots of bloggers publishing a great amount of content on daily basis. But what’s the point of publishing nice articles if there is no viewer to see those? So a lot of bloggers thrive to get a nice amount of traffic into their blogs or on the websites.

So you need to tell the world that you are publishing nice articles that may help a lot of people out there. Blog feeds are awesome for such kind of an outreach that works like magnets to attract viewers into your blog.

You can submit your RSS feeds to Feedly, Feedburner, Reddit, Feedity, and Rapid feeds to get viewers from those popular sites. Not only that but also you can submit your Blog’s Atom feed into Google News and Apple news platform to get more engaging readers into your website.

Then it will satisfy your thrust that your posts are getting views and you’ll get encouraged to post more rich articles for your audience.

RSS feeds and Atom feeds are very easy to generate. If you’re blogging in WordPress or Blogger platform then you can get your feed link but if you’re using  Medium, Tumblr, or Wix then you will not able to generate feed links from your blog.

How to get feed links

https://your_website_name.domain/?feed=rss    for generating RSS file

https://your_website_name.domain/?feed=atom    for generating ATOM file

Though RSS very popular than ATOM, you can use either one depending on what you are looking for on your site.

The Problem with RSS and ATOM feeds

If you’re using feature images in your posts then automatically feature images don’t come into RSS or ATOM links. That means when your reader wants to read your articles from your feed links they will not see any images. They have to fetch the original HTML page from the RSS or ATOM link to see the feature image. Otherwise only the textual posts will appear to them. This may cause a drop in your viewers’ number.

Feature images also don’t appear by default in WordPress-generated RSS/ATOM feeds. You can only change the number of posts you want to show in the RSS/ATOM feed on the “Syndication feeds show the most recent” option under the Reading section of Settings option from the WordPress Admin panel. So you can increase or decrease the number of posts showing in your feeds from normal WordPress Settings.

That’s why to show featured images into RSS and ATOM feeds you need to install a special plug-in.
